I thought I would give an update on the progress of our garden. We spent Saturday morning at home weeding, fertilizing, and planting a few new things.
I cannot get over how quickly everything seems to be growing. We planted our potatoes in tires this year. They are so tall! Some of them are even beginning to die off already.
Here's one of our pepper plants. We planted a variety of peppers this year. David cannot wait to make some more pepper jelly this year.
David went ahead and put cages around our tomato plants. You can see there are already some little tomatoes on the plant.
Carter helped Daddy put some lattice up for the cucumbers to climb.
Our summer squash looks so great already! We added a few zucchini plants today. They were out the first time we went to get plants for the garden. There is just something about squash and zucchini in the summertime.
During nap time, David went to pick up a few more plants, so when everyone woke up, we got back to work planting. Well, David did. We planted a fig tree, some blueberry bushes, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes. Our garden is a little smaller this year than in the past, but I think it's a great start for our first season here in Mississippi. I imagine next year it will be even bigger and better. It won't be long until we are enjoying some fresh food from the garden. I'll be sure to post pictures!
