Last Thursday, June 11, our party of six hit the road for our annual trek to the Southern Baptist Convention. We look forward to this trip every year, all year long, and we couldn't wait to hit the road! Thanks to some sweet friends at Second Baptist Church, we were more than set for the trip with games and treats for the road. What a gift!
We left home about 6AM with the plan of stopping for lunch in Nashville.
David surprised me with lunch at one of our favorites in Nashville, SATCO, with some of our very favorite people!
We met Jason and Amy and James during the summer of 2003, when the Lord called us to FUGE in Nashville. All three were a huge part of us moving to New Orleans for seminary, and we are forever thankful for them! It was so refreshing to spend a couple of hours with them!
I adore this girl. You know how it is with really good friends, even though you haven't talked in ages or seen each other in years, you can just pick up right where you left off! Awesome!
After lunch, we headed to Kentucky, where we would spend the night in Louisville.
Our first stop was at Churchill Downs. This was so neat! We were expecting to just walk around and look. We definitely had no idea that there was an actual race going on that day! Nor did we know that you had to pay cash to get inside. This sweet lady working the ticket counter let all of us in for FREE - there are still some really great people in the world! So, we got to sit at the finish line at Churchill Downs and watch two races! What fun!
It's such a pretty place!
And of course we had to have a little photo shoot outside the racecourse.
Summer LOVES horses, so this was such a special treat for her! She had the biggest smile on her face the entire time. Love it!
We spent the night in Louisville with the plans of hitting the road to Michigan in the morning! So far, our Summer Road Trip is off to an amazing start!
