Happy 1st birthday, Story!

Happy 1st birthday, Story!
It seems like just yesterday we were at the hospital, meeting you for the very first time.
Holding you for the first time.
Definitely loving you at first sight.
Having your brother and sisters and so many other family members and friends meeting you for the first time.
Dressing you for the first time.
And finally taking you home for the first time.
It literally seems like we blinked, and here we are celebrating your first birthday. How can it be? I mean, how is it that you are no longer the tiny, fragile baby that we just brought home from the hospital? Wasn't it just yesterday? It sure feels like it, but boy so many firsts have happened in the last year. Yesterday's blog post is the proof of that.
  • You haven't had your well check-up yet, so we aren't sure of your stats.
  • You do have 8 teeth and two molars! They just came in on the top this week, right first and then left. We think the bottom molars will be in any day, as the site is quite swollen.
  • You love to eat. Some of your favorites are: butter beans, broccoli, green beans, peas, carrots, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, pbj, chicken, french fries, cookies, cheerios, apples, grapes, watermelon, and yogurt. We haven't found too many things that you won't eat, but we are giving you time.
  • You are talking lots and signing some. You love to give high fives, blow kisses, clap, and wave bye bye. Some new words you have said this month are Daddy and Carter. One afternoon I was looking for Carter and was calling his name. You started mocking me, so cute!
  • You love to help me bathe your brother and sisters as you patiently wait your turn. You love bath time. We are thankful because there was a phase you went through when you didn't like the bath tub at all.
  • You are a great sleeper. Most nights we put you to bed close to 6 and you wake the next morning at 8am, unless your big sister and roommate wakes you. You are still taking a short morning nap, about an hour and a longer afternoon nap, about 3 hours.
  • There's no doubt about it by now, you are definitely a thumb sucker. I mean you LOVE your thumb. When we put you to bed at night or for a nap, even before your head hits, your lovey goes to your cheek, and your thumb goes in your mouth. We will pay for it one day in orthodontic bills, but for now it is so sweet and cute.
  • You look more and more like your big brother every day. You have big blue eyes and light brown hair. Your dimple seems more defined each day, too.
  • You wear size 18 month clothes, size 3-4 shoes, and size 4 diapers.
  • You love your daddy. I mean you reallllly loooooove him. Your little face just lights up with you see him. Don't let him fool you, he's got it pretty bad for you, too. We all do.
  • You are quite adventuresome, and we have to watch you constantly. You love to climb.
  • You have a super fast crawl. You aren't walking alone yet, but you will walk behind something you are pushing or if you are holding our hands.
Happy first birthday, sweet Story.
We are so thankful for this first year of your life. We are thankful for your good health, your sweet smile, your infectious laugh, and the grip you have on our hearts. Our family is better, more complete because of you. We love you!
