Birthday week.

This is Carter's birthday week, and Friday night David and I took him out for a date with just us. We had so. much. fun. However, we definitely missed the 3 girls and were reminded that God knew what He was doing when he quickly gave us 4 children so close in age. How do parents resist buying everything a kid wants? Thankfully, we can't do it, but we sure wanted to spoil this little fella to pieces.
Our date began with supper, and we let the birthday boy pick where he wanted to eat. I remember my mom doing this when I was a child, and it is fun to continue this tradition with Carter. At first, he picked the Varsity because we had just been there, and he wanted a hot dog and onion rings. We told him we weren't going to that part of town, so he needed to pick somewhere else. We felt kinda bad for not completely letting him choose, but we had another agenda for the night, and it did not involve downtown ATL on a Saturday night!
So, he picked . . .
His second favorite, so he could eat chips and cheese dip! Willy's is like Moe's only way better, way better. Carter ate chips and cheese dip until there were none left. Don't worry, we helped him out a little bit, too.
Our big boy outside of Willy's getting ready to go to the next place. He wanted to go to Disney World, so we took him. I mean you only turn 5 once!
As far as he was concerned, this was just as good. That's only because he has never been. Our children have never been to the movie theater, and for Carter's 5th birthday we thought it would be really special to take him. So, I spent this week researching the movies out, reading the parent guides, and boy was I disappointed. I mean there are several G rated movies out, and you would think that is safe. Not! The two playing in our area both contain sexual innuendos, really? A G rated movie! I was shocked and disappointed. So, we did not take him on Friday night as planned. On June 24th, Cars 2 comes out, so we are going to take him to see that one. I can't wait to see the reaction on his little face when he sees, "lightening the queen" on the big screen! SO fun!
In honor of our surprise yet to come, we allowed him to get a couple of gifts with his favorite racing car. He was so proud and so excited!
Our soon to be 5 year old with his loot outside of the only "Disney World" he knows of so far, ha!
Next, we let him play on the indoor playground at the mall. David and I mentioned that he seemed kind of lost without his 3 favorite play mates. He managed to be king of the mountain anyway.
What's a birthday without dessert! We checked out this new yogurt place before going home.
Carter got chocolate with marshmallows, and he had no trouble at all eating it up!
Happy almost 5th birthday, Carter! Mommy and Daddy loved our date night with you. Thank you for being first to make us parents. We are so proud of you and thankful for you. We love you to the moon and back!
