Road trip.

The last weekend in September, we were invited to travel to Kingsport, Tennessee, home to some of our sweet friends from seminary. We met and lived closed to Michael and Denise while in seminary in New Orleans. Michael pastors Lynn Gardens Baptist Church in Kingsport, and he invited David to preach their homecoming service this year. After spending almost a week packing and getting everything ready, we were so excited for our road trip. About 5:00 that Friday afternoon, after naps, bubble baths, and loading the car we hit the road. It's about a 5 hour drive, so with our many stops for feedings and bathroom breaks, we finally made it. All 6 of us slept in one hotel room, which we thought was going to be quite interesting, but actually ended up being just fine. David and Carter took one bed; Summer and I took another; Tilly and Story each had their own pack and play.
Here we are having some fun in the hotel room!
Saturday, we slept in (sort of), took our time getting around, and headed over the Wrye's house. After visiting for a while, meeting the new babies, and catching up, we headed to lunch at Johnny's pizza. It was delicious. The plan for the afternoon was to head to a local park and let the children play. We were going to just skip naps because we thought one day would not hurt. No such luck. At least two of our four had a melt down in the car upon leaving the restaurant, so we opted out of playing at the park and went back to the hotel to take naps. Best decision we made all day. Everyone, and I mean all six of us, slept for 2 1/2 hours. It was awesome! For supper, we headed back over to the Wrye's for a picnic on the lawn. The fellowship was sweet and the food was great! It was wonderful to spend time with friends and watch our children play together. Michael and Denise were such gracious hosts, even when Tilly decided to play Van Gogh on their wall in the playroom, GASP! I was humiliated. I didn't take many pictures, but I did manage to get one of each of the children.

Our children had such a fun time riding around in Kassidy's jeep in the backyard. Caleb and Story, who are just a few weeks apart, had fun chilling in the bouncy seat and exersaucer. Sunday, we had church services followed by a delicious covered dish luncheon. This precious lady in the church, held and fed Story, so David and I could eat. Everyone was so helpful with our many children, and we truly just felt right at home. Thank you, Michael and Denise, for being such sweet friends to David and me. We hope to see the four of you very soon!
